Product safety standards, certifications, and buyer responsibilities by destination market
Important Notice
Product safety and certification obligations vary significantly by destination country, product type, and end-use category. This Policy provides an overview for guidance only. It is the Buyer's sole responsibility to verify and obtain all certifications required in their destination market before importing and selling TICC products. TICC is not liable for the Buyer's failure to comply with destination market product safety requirements.
This Certification & Compliance Policy describes the product safety certification landscape relevant to TICC's wholesale buyers across key international markets, and sets out the allocation of responsibility between TICC and the Buyer for obtaining and maintaining required certifications. TICC takes product safety seriously and will cooperate fully with Buyers' reasonable certification requests.
TICC's products are traditional handcrafted goods — home decor, textiles, basketry, ceramics, woodcraft, and natural fibre articles. TICC does not manufacture regulated consumer products such as electrical goods, motorised products, or food products. TICC's standard compliance position is:
▸ All products are made from natural materials by skilled artisans.
▸ No products contain banned or restricted substances under Indian export law.
▸ TICC provides accurate product descriptions, material content, and HS codes on all export documentation.
▸ TICC cooperates fully with buyer-requested testing, providing samples and technical product information as needed.
▸ For bulk orders, the mandatory SGS Pre-Shipment Inspection verifies product conformance against agreed specifications.
| Standard / Regulation | Product Category | Key Requirements & Buyer Responsibility |
|---|---|---|

Action Required — Children's Products
Any TICC product intended for use by or with children under 14 years — including toys, nursery items, children's clothing, children's furniture, and children's accessories — is subject to heightened mandatory safety requirements in all destination markets. Buyers who intend to market TICC products as children's products MUST advise TICC at the order enquiry stage. TICC and the Buyer will then discuss the applicable standards and testing requirements before any order is confirmed.
TICC will cooperate with Buyers' reasonable compliance requirements. TICC can:
▸ Provide detailed material composition declarations for all products.
▸ Arrange sample supply for third-party safety testing (Buyer funds testing).
▸ Provide product technical information (dimensions, weight, material sources) required for compliance assessments.
▸ Coordinate with artisan vendors to obtain production process information.
▸ Assist in sourcing SGS or other third-party chemical testing at the Buyer's cost.
▸ Provide country of origin and sourcing declarations for EUDR and similar due diligence requirements.
Buyers must advise TICC of any specific certification, testing, or documentation requirements at the order enquiry stage — not after production commences. TICC cannot guarantee that post-production certification requirements can be accommodated without additional cost or delay.
| TICC's Responsibility | Buyer's Responsibility |
|---|---|
| Produce goods from natural, safe materials. | Identify and comply with all destination market product safety regulations. |
| Provide accurate material content declarations. | Arrange and fund any required third-party testing. |
| Cooperate with buyer-requested testing and documentation. | Apply compliant product labels (safety marks, fibre content, country of origin, care instructions). |
| SGS Pre-Shipment Inspection on all bulk orders. | Ensure products meet mandatory standards before placing on market. |
| Advise Buyer if TICC has reason to believe a product may not meet destination market standards. | Obtain any required import licences or permits. |
